Following in our usual fashion (early and bright) we left the hotel at 7:45 picked up bananas for breakfast jumped in a taxi and went down to Battery Park. Statue of Liberty first stop. Really was magnificent seeing the old girl close up.

We had pedestal tickets which gave us a good work out and me vertigo. Ingrid upset security no end with her pedometer. That even scanned it twice!! This man was very passionate about the girl. He was VERY happy to pose for this photo. Great character and a lot of fun to talk to.
Next stop Ellis Island.
Back at battery park we walked up through Wall St, thankfully Crumbs cupcakes was only a short walk away. Ingrid ate half my cupcake and half hers!!! Please note the jacket. Lucky I bought it, so much for New York being hot we are freezing!!

Feeling decidedly sick we continued our walking and stopped at the World Trade Centres site and St Paul's, so sad and so moving.

Having heard so much about Shake Shack Ingrid and I caught the subway to Madison Square Gardens. On our own. And we didn't get lost. Quite the miracle. Being well prepared I knew it would be a long wait and we were not disappointed. Queue took 32 minutes and the food another 25. It was at this point that Stef miraculously appeared, that girl can sniff out a hamburger from 20 paces. I thought the hamburgers were very average but the other two thought them well worth the wait. The custard shake (yes custard shake) was undrinkable which is saying a lot coming from my sweet tooth! They also had a doggy menu.

5th avenue appeared out of no where and Ingrid was led by she knows not what to Tiffany's. Peter will be very glad to know that although there was a few MAGNIFICENT pieces the credit card did not make an appearance :) We walked 5th Avenue until we dropped literally. We must have looked bad when we got back to the hotel as the concierge offered to send up two pots of tea. This went down very nicely with the 18 mini cupcakes I bought from Crumbs.
Dinner with the Moo and George was pizza and on the way home quite distressingly we came across this place. It is basically about 20 steps from our hotel. The future is looking sweeter than ever and my waist line bigger than ever.
Love Bec and Ingrid.
PS Tomorrow has been forecast a top of 18 and pouring rain.

Hey...Glad you are enjoying NYC! Love Crumbs but do not eat yourself into a sugar coma!
